A la cima del Urriellu sólo se puede acceder escalando, algo que convierte a esta montaña en un auténtico desafío vertical. Las cuatro caras de la montaña cuentan con vías de escalada abiertas y destaca la imponente cara oeste: un abismo vertical de 550 metros que presenta algunas de las vías más exigentes en gran pared de España.
En la base del Naranjo de Bulnes se encuentra la Vega de Urriellu, un valle de origen glaciar a una altura de 1.950 metros. En este valle se encuentra el refugio de nombre homónimo, campo base para todos los escaladores y excursionistas que visitan la zona.
Te proponemos una ascensión por la vía ‘Cepeda’ (300m V+). Esta línea se abrió en 1955 y fue la primera vía de escalada en la cara este del Naranjo de Bulnes. Es una vía emblemática que se divide en nueve largos, con dificultades máximas de hasta V+ y obligadas de IV+. La ascensión cuenta con pasajes de diedro, fisuras, travesías y chimenea. Toda la vía transcurre sobre una excelente roca caliza y después de escalar sus 300 metros se realizan 150 más de trepada fácil por el anfiteatro sur para acabar accediendo a la cumbre del Naranjo.
Día 1 | Nos reunimos en el pueblo de Arenas de cabrales a las 10 am y luego de hacer una revisión de material y últimas compras de comida, nos trasladamos al collado de Pandebano desde el cual iniciaremos la aproximación al refugio de la Vega Urriellu.
Día 2 | Amanecemos temprano y realizamos la aproximación final a la pared, escalamos la vía y luego descendemos a Pandebano.

I organised a 4hr climbing session in Siurana for 10 children (mostly aged 8-9) and Santi was super easy to communicate with and organise everything remotely. He arranged 2 guides, all the equipment, safe briefing and everything you would need for a half day of fun climbing. The kids really enjoyed themselves and learnt so much along the way. Some were beginners, others had climbed before and the guides were very helpful and supportive. I highly recommend Southclimb and we can’t wait to go climbing with them again.
Santi is the best mountain guide in the area, hands down. His knowledge of the local terrain and technical expertise made for an incredible experience. Safety was clearly a top priority, but he also knows exactly how to push you to reach those rewarding summits and hidden spots you’d never find on your own.
Santi hosted 5 of us amateur climbers in Siurana for 5 days, most of whom had never climbed outdoors before. We felt so safe with Santi as a guide, and he was able to provide climbing support as well as local recommendations (and jokes) at the same time! We all definitely leant a lot from him.

We did a two-day climbing course in Siurana and Arboli and couldn't be happier. Giordano is one of the best guides I have gone out climbing with, he explains things super well and has something to offer no matter your level. The communication with SouthClimb before the course was smooth - they gave us good recommendations about the best ways to get to the area, places to stay, and what to expect.
Did one week course with Santi, in a group of 4. We went to different sites every single day (Siurana, Margalef, Arboli and Montserrat) which gave me a very good overview of some of the best sites in the Tarragona area. Teaching of Santi is of top quality, with the right level of technical and mental aspects and most importantly his passion to share is amazing. Always felt encouraged and motivated.
