Anayet is an aesthetically pleasing peak, located at an altitude of 2,545 meters in the north of Aragon, practically on the border between the Aragonese and French Pyrenees. The surroundings of this mountain are idyllic, with the Ibones del Anayet at its feet and splendid views of the Midi d'Ossau, the neighboring mountain, already in French territory.
The origin of Anayet peak is volcanic. When half of the volcano collapsed, the mountain was left as it is known today, considered the chimney of this geological formation. Despite not reaching 3,000 meters in height, unlike other mountains in the Pyrenees, it is one of the most visited peaks in this mountain range, both by climbers and hikers.
Views from Ibones de Anayet
Anayet has two long equipped routes with affordable difficulty and great beauty. The routes are called 'Sueño de Verano' (350m 6a) and 'Los Balcones del Anayet' (350m V+). The repertoire of movements is varied in both lines, and we will choose one or the other depending on the day and the volume of climbers on the mountain.
Looking at Anayet from the approach path, the 'Sueño de Verano' route is to the left of the always sought-after 'Los Balcones del Anayet'. 'Sueño de Verano' is 350 meters long and divided into 11 pitches. The grade is quite consistent throughout the ascent, with only one 6a move in the last section. The final reward is the summit of Anayet, which will give us spectacular views of this part of the Pyrenees in Aragon.
The difficulty of 'Los Balcones del Anayet' is similar, with a maximum grade of V+ that we will have to climb in the fourth pitch. It has one more pitch and also reaches the summit of Anayet.
